What makes the world’s leading brands more recognizable? Is it their world famous logos, the products or services they offer or what other people have to say about them? What contributes to a company’s brand & identity? World of mouth is a strong factor in increasing brand popularity there is no denying that. However, if you really think about it, are the world famous brands’ logos popular because they are great logos or there is something more to that? I would say a brand is more than just a logo. Mercedes Benz make great cars and they have done so for years, they also offer great service and oh by the way they have a great logo too. What would you say is their brand & identity?
Creating a strong brand involves making huge promises and keeping them, no matter what. A logo forms just part of a brand’s identity. Because people buy great products and services, they will also recommend a pleasant experience. Making your service or product the most talked about, positively of course, is the sure fire way of creating a muscular brand & identity.
As much as people are visually attracted to certain products, if the said product does not meet the buyer’s expectations (as promised by the logo or the visuals) then there is next to no chance of building a strong brand. So next time a “branding expert” approaches you and says you need to work on your website and logo, without even getting to understanding the product or service you offer, get as far away from them as you can. Because a brand is MORE than just a logo.
